My ire at Monsieur Trebek on the topic of nucleic acids has previously been documented. Why yes, I am that big a dork. Today I have decided to forgive him, for a most nicely-phrased question under the category "Genome-enclature" (the $2000 clue, no less!):

The true power behind DNA & genes, this can be messenger, transfer or ribosomal

So there. Suck it, world. Though he could have added "micro" but I suppose I can't be too picky-- the "true power" thing just makes me giggle in the dorkiest possible way. Is it sad that I get worked up about these things? Don't answer that.

Also I got final jeopardy, which NONE of the contestants did. Go me.

H/T to J! Archive as usual for clue wording and general awesomeness.

Friday on Jeopardy! there was a category called "conductors," in which the $2000 question was:
(Jimmy of the Clue Crew powers a fan by putting one terminal into a beaker of saltwater.) Current that will power the fan is carried by ions rather than free electrons in the saltwater, which is one of these conducting liquids
none of the contestants knew the answer, but i was shouting quite loudly "WHAT ARE ELECTROLYTES? WHAT ARE ELECTROLYTES? IT'S WHAT PLANTS CRAVE!"
