If, like me, you spent a considerable amount of time with headphones on and are in desperate need of mental stimulation, you might be interested to know that online audiobookseller audible.com is running a promotion for This American Life listeners for one free audiobook download. You have to be a little careful, since after the two week trial period, they automatically start charging you $15 a month (you have to put in credit card info for the free trial). But given the number of 384-well QPCR plates in my future, I figure it's worth it for me at least.

Which brings me to the bleg: I have one download! What should I use it for? Current thoughts include The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaimain) and The Zookeeper's Wife (which I heard about a while ago and have been interested in) or maybe something by David or Amy Sedaris, as I haven't yet read anything by either. Anyway, thoughts? Read anything interesting lately?

ETA: If you like This American Life, they're doing a live show that's being streamed to movie theaters tomorrow at 8. No idea if there's still tickets left-- we got ours weeks ago ;) You can find ticket info at the TAL site.

Do you have my copy of Watchmen?
I was telling Dad that he'll probably want to see the movie, then offered to lend him my copy of the book, but it doesn't seem to be on my shelf. Did I lend it to one of you?

Also, the icon has nothing to do with this post, I just think it's high-larious.

this one goes out to all the music dorks in the audience.

okay, so as part of my ongoing descent into battlestar-galactica-related geekiness, i'm looking to get me a copy of "all along the watchtower." however, while there's only one version by hendrix and a couple by dave matthews band on itunes, there are about a million different performances/recordings by bob dylan. anyone have a recommendation for choosing among the throng of dylans? or some hint as to what might be the "definitive" version? i am clueless as always when it comes to music :p
